Crews from the Danbury Fire Department responded to a report of a fire on the third floor of an “ordinary construction building” on Main Street at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 14.

Upon arrival, officials said that crews found the fire in the rear of a four-story building with smoke throughout the building.

A second alarm was struck due to the size of the building and the number of people inside, officials noted.

Firefighters worked quickly to knock down the flames while evacuating the building. The fire was deemed under control within 15 minutes, at 5:44 p.m.

According to investigators, the fire was found to be in a utility room next to a room that was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Building management and maintenance were on scene and worked with crews to limit the damage while the remaining smoke was removed with ventilation fans.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
